What We Believe

This is only a summation of our core beliefs.

We believe . . . that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and without mistakes as originally written. It is the complete revelation of His will for salvation and the only unfailing rule of faith and practice for the Christian life.

We believe . . . in one God, Creator of all things, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that these three are co-eternal and of equal dignity and power.

We believe . . . in the deity of Jesus Christ; His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit; His virgin birth ; His sinless life; His substitutionary death on a cross; His bodily resurrection; His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and His personal, imminent return.

We believe . . . that man was created by and for God; that by man's disobeying God, every person incurred spiritual death, which is separation from God, and physical death as a consequence; and that all people are sinners by nature and practice.

We believe . . . the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and that all who believe in Him receiving His forgiveness are declared righteous because of His sacrificial death and are, therefore, in the right relationship with God.

We believe . . . in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit indwelling all believers and thus enabling and empowering the life and ministry of the believer.

We believe . . . in the bodily resurrection of everyone who has lived, the everlasting blessedness of those in right relationship with God, and the everlasting punishment of those who have rejected God's forgiveness in His Son.

Why We Exist

Family Traits

The Word of God

The Bible is central in all we do. Whether it is Biblical preaching, small group Bible study, or seeking to daily open God’s Word as we grow in our relationship with Him, it is foundational for truth and a guide for our lives.

Humor

It doesn’t take long to realize we are a church that is laid back and likes to laugh! We are daily learning to enjoy God more and more, develop Godly friendship as we fellowship together, and radiate His joy into the dark world around us.

Everyone is a Servant

We believe we are all called to serve! We seek to develop servant’s hearts and encourage you to find and grow in your gifts as God guides you into the ministry He has called you to. Whether it is homebound visitation, Manna House, or children’s ministry, we all have a place in the puzzle!

Family

Church begins at home! We are moving in a direction of being more intentional about training families to center their homes around Christ as they worship together, serve together and grow in God’s grace on a DAILY basis. We believe that healthy, blossoming marriages and families who follow Christ are the lighthouses in our community.

Authenticity

We don’t wear masks at Calvary! We are creating an atmosphere where it is not only OK to share your struggles, sins and sorrows, it is encouraged. We don’t pretend to have it all down or be even close to perfect. We are all a work in progress and being honest with where we are on our spiritual journey encourages us to grow in His grace and walk with our King!

Multiplication

We believe God has strategically placed you as a witness to your family, neighbors, co-workers, friends, and those He brings across your path! Personal evangelism is our calling and the key to Kingdom growth! We are ever seeking to encourage and equip you to follow His calling in your life and be a witness both in word and deed to those around you.

Intimate Prayer

Prayer is something that every Christian believes in, but not everyone practices! Prayer is not just requesting things from God, it is getting to know Him. We desire to be a church that daily depends on God through prayer, and lives life in a way that shows we believe in the power of Christ centered prayer both individually and as a body.

Living in Biblical Community

Our prayer is that God continue to mold us into “the New Testament church” he has called us to be. A place where we are committed to the teaching of God’s Word, fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer. A place where we can be encouraged, held accountable, share our sorrows and our joys, and be used for His glory. We genuinely care for one another and share that care more intimately through our Sundays School classes and throughout the whole of our church.

We believe that every part of the body of Christ is just as important as the other. You bring your unique gifts, talents and personality as we work TOGETHER to glorify our King!

We pray the these ministries will help be an encouragement to you as you grow in God’s grace and give you an opportunity to serve where He calls you!

Prayer Gathering

We meet every Sunday morning at 9:15 for a time of prayer as we seek God’s face, lift up needs, pray for the lost and prepare our hearts for worship together.

Sunday School

We have Sunday School classes for all ages to study God’s Word and become more fully devoted followers of Jesus. The class information is found in the Sunday School information packet.

Sunday Morning Worship

We meet every Sunday morning at 11:00 for a time of corporate worship. This is the ideal service to invite your friends and family. The format is a great entryway into the life of our church.

Porch Swing Service

On Sunday evening at 5:00 we have a small group Bible study located in the Gleaners class where we journey through God’s Word together. We have a time of sharing prayer requests and prayer then go right into our Bible passage for the night. We are just finishing a 3 year journey through the whole of God’s Word.

JOURNEY Service

Our Wednesday night service meets at 6:00 in the fellowship hall where Bro. Adam teaches God’s Word in a laid back, discussion format. We usually begin with an “ice breaker” then dive right into truths that change our lives ranging from spiritual warfare, to prayer, to studies through specific books of the Bible

Nursery Ministry

We offer a nursery on Sunday morning for babies up to 4 years old. We have a wonderful group of volunteer caregivers that create an atmosphere of warmth, safety and overflow with God’s love. We even began a Sunday School class for the 2-3 year olds as they begin their foundation of the truths of God’s Word with interactive Bible teaching, crafts, snack and games that encourage the truth being taught!

Pre-School Ministry

Our pre-school class is full of energy and love as the teachers share God’s love and truth from His Word through stories, crafts and games.

Children’s Ministry

Our children meet on Sunday mornings at 9:45 during Sunday School and have special events like lock-ins, swimming parties, Children’s rallies, and nursing home ministry both to fellowship and to serve. We have a possible new Wednesday night children’s ministry in the making for the new year.

Youth Ministry

Our youth meet on Sunday mornings at 9:45 during Sunday School and have Bible study while building relationships and learning vital truths to help them face the challenges of being a teenager today. They have also been meeting on Wednesday night at 7:00 as well as going to other events like youth rallies, scavenger hunts and other “youthy” stuff like that! They also serve in our Manna House as they are encouraged to live out their faith and join in the mission of the church.

Women’s Ministry

Our women have many different Sunday School classes of all ages where they are challenged to grow into women of God. They also have regular fellowships throughout the year where they eat, laugh and enjoy the blessings of friendship and fellowship in God’s love.

Men’s Ministry

Our men meet in their cedar room on Sunday morning at 9:45 and feast on donuts, coffee and God’s Word as they learn to follow Christ with their whole heart becoming better husbands, fathers and men of character and honour. They also enjoy “manly outings” such as cookouts, retreats,bowling, fishing tournaments, and their annual campout with the boys of the church.

GPS “Growing Passionate Servants”

GPS is an intense one year Servant Leadership Development program designed to give this specific group of men a solid Biblical foundation and equip them to be more “fully devoted followers of Jesus who love God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength and share His love with one another and everyone in their path.” They meet weekly and are challenged to deepen their walk with God and become the servant leaders God has called them to be in their homes, workplaces, neighborhoods and church. Men may apply in November and December of every year and begin their one year life-changing adventure in January!

The Manna House is a powerful ministry that feeds and ministers to over 200 families each month. Their purpose is to “share God’s message of love, hope and salvation to all who hunger.” We have an incredible session of Manna House volunteer training twice a year. Volunteers have the opportunity to live out Christ’s call to feed the hungry as well as personally minister to those that God brings our way through this “open door of hope.”

Shower TEAM

The Shower TEAM encourages women in our church by giving them baby and wedding showers. This is a great chance to build friendships and help a young woman out during this new time in their life.

Building & Grounds TEAM

This TEAM takes care of the physical needs of the church and the surrounding grounds. The Lord has blessed us with the chance to purchase the entire block, bit by bit over the last several years and we look forward to what God has planned for our future.

Fellowship TEAM

The fellowship TEAM plans and encourages fellowships like our annual Thanksgiving meal, Valentine banquet, Easter Picnic, or a regular fellowship meal or creative gathering.

Our WMU meets the first Thursday of every month at 9:30 where they discuss and encourage missions.

Homebound TEAM

The Homebound TEAM meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:00 to discuss homebound visitation. This is a vital ministry in our church that reaches out to members that cannot attend church on Sundays. They encourage, bring gifts, and keep the homebound members up to speed on what God is doing at the church.

Nursing Home TEAM

The Nursing Home TEAM goes to the Bonham Nursing Center on the last Wednesday of every month where Bro. Adam brings a message and they celebrate birthdays with cake, punch and birthday cards.

Light Fest

The Light Fest is our annual Fall outreach. Every year we have a huge festival on Halloween night to give families a safe place to go on such a dark night. Last year over 1,400 people showed and allowed us the opportunity to share the gospel with them and tell them why we prepare this gift for the community.

Sonshiners

The Sonshiners are an active group of senior adults who enjoy a monthly potluck fellowship followed by 42 and chickenfoot as well as outings to see Christmas lights, the Dallas arboretum, the Tyler rose festival (where Dink was crowned Rose Queen) fun restaurants, picnics, movie days and more!
